Tsunami!

The recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan remind us of our own vulnerability along our coastline. The Pacific Rim generates the largest number of tsunamis. At this course we will discuss the causes of earthquakes and tsunamis, the characteristics of the wave and its travel time. We will look at some historic tsunamis, the tsunami warning system and our own potential vulnerabilities.
John McCabe is a docent at the Museum of Natural History at Morro Bay State Park. He is also an instructor in Community… Show more Programs and a tutor of geology at Cuesta College. He is past president of the Santa Lucia Rockhounds, a gem and mineral society. John holds a MS in Engineering from the University of Arizona.
