Cal Poly Symphony Winter Concert: Student Soloist Showcase

An American who answered Dvořák's challenge to find a national style was William Grant Still, an African-American active in the Harlem Renaissance. His Symphony No. 1, "Afro-American," brings the blues into the concert hall. This audacious marriage of America’s great blues tradition and the pinnacle of European instrumental art music is not to be missed!
